Excerpt of letter from Officer in 2nd Infantry Div. based in Fort Lewis, WA.
"The brigade was involved in the actions currently being reported on both Fox News and NPR. After the explosion in the fuel distro center (Iraq), two of our Strykers, one each from 5-20 IN and 2-3 IN, were engaged by insurgents with VBIEDS (Car Bombs). Nine Soldiers were wounded, but none of them suffered life threatening injuries; seven of them have been returned to duty already. One of the Soldiers has been evacuated to Balad for ruptured eardrums, another Soldier remains under observation at the CSH in Mosul with a concussion. HQDA is currently conducting phone notifications for the Soldiers' next of kin."
