Thanks to all who have supported our care package shipments to soldiers overseas in 2012. This past year we shipped about 1,080 of the large USPS flat rate boxes and 1,707 large brown parcel post boxes, which are about 3 times larger than the USPS flat rate boxes. Almost all of the care packages were shipped to American troops in Afghanistan.
Total shipping costs in 2012 were about $52,300. Funds for shipping costs are always our greatest need. USPS shipping rates will be raised in 2013.
Unofficially, as the figures haven't been finalized by the accounting people, we have reached our goal of raising $100,000 for the year. Recent donations by Sterling Relocation (Houston), our long time supporter Ridgemont Commercial Construction, and many other year end donations will help us start 2013 on solid footing.
Our next big packing party is January 12, 2013 in which we will pack 200 to 300 boxes for our soldiers in Afghanistan.
How can you help our nonprofit send care packages to some of the most remote of the roughly 150,000 U.S. military troops serving overseas in 2025?
1) Donate Financially - Our greatest need is cash for our mailing costs. With no paid staff, we strive to maximize the use of donations. We are a 501(c)(3) charity, so your gifts are tax deductible. We accept checks to Airborne Angel Cadets of Texas, P.O. Box 116691, Carrollton, TX 75011. You can donate via credit card through our Click and Pledge account.
