Active duty women serving in our military overseas are an important part of our care package planning. As our all-volunteer nonprofit is largely composed of women, we try to include female oriented products into our care packages for our U.S. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines stationed overseas. If you, your business or organization would be able to donate any of these products (and/or assist with the shipping costs), we would greatly appreciate your help.
A CNN article in 2013 reports that women comprise 14.5% of the U.S. active-duty force of nearly 1.4 million. That breaks down to about 74,000 in the Army, 53,000 in the Navy, 62,000 in the Air Force and 14,000 in the Marine Corps. For Afghanistan, our own experiences would indicate 10 to 15 percent of our care package recipients would be women.
Sometimes the needs of ladies are overlooked in care packages, and the local military PX/BX/MCX are many times in short supply of feminine hygiene and toiletry products. Below are a list of some items that we could include in our care packages.
- Facial moisturizers and other skin care products, Suntan lotion
- Chapstick / lip balm
- Q-tips, Cotton pads, Bath Puffs, Shower Loofahs
- Hair ties, hair bands, bobby pins, brushes, combs
- Manicure / pedicure sets / Nail Polish for Toes / Nail Files
- Feminine hygiene products (tampons, panty liners)
- Midol pain reliever
- Shampoos / Conditioners / Leave-in Conditioners
- Skin Lotions, Foot lotions, Foot Powder
- Body wash / Soaps
- Room deodorizers, Deodorant - Colgate Lady Speed Stick, etc.
- Baby wipes, Facial cleaning wipes
- Flannel pajamas, slippers, sandals
- Socks (women sizes, black, green, tan, gray, white)
- DVD's, CD's geared towards women
- Underwear, sports bras
- Razors / non-aerosol shave gel
