Here are a couple of emails we received from two of the units that are scheduled to receive some of the care packages we packed and sent this last weekend. After we had finished packing on Saturday and the post office had picked up the boxes for 4 of the units, we received a security alert stating the military mail to certain zip codes in the Mideast were being temporarily suspended for at least 30 days due to the Iran conflict. In total, 6 of our units were affected by this suspension! We mailed what we could to the units that can still receive mail and then notified them, by email, to watch for the boxes.
Here are their replies:
Wow — what a week on your end! Thank you so much for the update and for all the extra effort it sounds like everyone put in to make sure those boxes were taken care of. Going back to the warehouse on Sunday to sort everything out really speaks to the dedication of your team, and we truly appreciate it.
We are incredibly grateful for the 25 “Greetings from Texas” boxes headed our way. The candy-filled piƱata and the tostada chips tucked safely inside the water pitchers made me smile — such a fun and thoughtful touch! I know our service members will absolutely love the taste of Texas when they arrive.
Thank you again for thinking of USO Romania and for the continued support you send our way. It means a lot to our team and especially to the troops we serve here. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as the boxes arrive and will happily send along some photos.
Please pass along our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped pack and organize them.
Take care and thank you again for all you do.

Hey Nancy,
You ain't kidding! I will say that mail in my area has been impacted too, but we will see how badly in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed things still move at a decent pace.
I just wanted to let you know that those blankets came in soooo handy. We had in influx of people who needed hygiene items and linens. It was chaos, but thanks to you we were able to put those supplies in their hands. I am so sorry I didn't get to capture more than one person, but I figured I would let you see the one picture I did get. This kid was so grateful for the blanket and dental stuff. He didn't have to sleep on a bare cot because of you guys.
Keep up the great work. You never know the kind of impact you'll have.
Thanks for everything. I'll keep an eye out for the boxes and let you know.
Have a great day,
Heather
