How can you help our nonprofit send care packages to some of the most remote of the roughly 150,000 U.S. military troops serving overseas in 2024?

1) Donate Financially - Our greatest need is cash for our mailing costs. With no paid staff, we strive to maximize the use of donations. We are a 501(c)(3) charity, so your gifts are tax deductible. We accept checks to Airborne Angel Cadets of Texas, P.O. Box 116691, Carrollton, TX 75011. You can donate via credit card through our Click and Pledge account. Or you can Venmo us at NancyCarter@AirborneAngels.

2) Donate Goods - Our all-volunteer charity is based in the Dallas area, but receives product donations from across the USA for care packages for our Soldiers and Troops overseas. We kindly request that you contact us at support@airborneangelcadets.com before sending any care package goods.

Are Care Packages to U.S. military troops still needed in 2015?

The volunteers of the Airborne Angel Cadets of Texas are often asked if care packages are still needed and welcomed by American Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines serving overseas.   Yes, we still hear from our military contacts in remote areas overseas that our care packages are greatly valued and appreciated.  The American public hears a lot about Iraq and Afghanistan, but U.S. troops operate in about 70% of the countries around the world.

There are currently about 140,000 - 160,000 U.S. troops stationed or deployed overseas at the start of 2015.  The media often reports on the 10,000 remaining U.S. troops in Afghanistan.  But on a worldwide perspective, U.S. troops conducted operations in about 140 countries (out of about 196 countries worldwide) in 2014.

"World peace? These are the only 11 countries in the world that are actually free from conflict" ... the title of an August, 2014 article from The Independent newspaper (U.K.).  "The only ones to achieve the lowest score for all forms of conflict were Switzerland, Japan, Qatar, Mauritius, Uruguay, Chile, Botswana, Costa Rica, Vietnam, Panama and Brazil."

On January 28, 2015, General Raymond T. Odierno, Chief of Staff of the United States Army, addressed the Senate Armed Forces Committee:

"In sum, we remain fully engaged with nearly 140,000 Soldiers committed, deployed, or forward-stationed conducting five named operations on six continents in nearly 140 countries, with 9 of our 10 Division Headquarters employed across the globe."

The Defense Manpower Data Center reports that approximately 160,000 U.S. troops were serving outside the continental U.S. and it's territories as of December 31, 2014.

As of 12/31/2014, the larger U.S. troop deployments were in the following countries.
Bahrain - 3,373
Belgium - 1,216
Brit. Indian Ocean Terr. - 546
Cuba - 727
Egypt - 280
Germany - 38,491
Greece - 396
Honduras - 378
Italy - 11,354
Japan - 49,396
Netherlands - 375
Portugal - 617
Qatar - 610
Saudi Arabia - 322
South Korea - 28,500
Spain - 2,170
Thailand - 288
Turkey - 1,518
United Arab Emirates - 321
United Kingdom - 9,124
* Most all of our care packages go to remote troops not deployed in the countries above.

So with that background, our Dallas - Fort Worth, TX volunteers are thankful for all the donations and efforts of our supporters who enable us to continue shipping care packages to our U.S. troops overseas.
